Monitors and records how people move around for tourism and town planning

• Novel system monitors people's movements and use of open space to provide accurate data for use in urban planning, retail yield management, law enforcement and tourism management.
• Since human behavior is very unpredictable and depends on countless variables, data on how people move around in amusement parks and other tourist venues often comes from subjective and inaccurate human testimony; costly mistakes in planning such sites are usually detected only after the project is completed and in use.
• There thus exists a need for an accurate, objective system that monitors and records how people actually behave and analyzes the data for planning and construction.

Our Innovation

System for monitoring, tracking and analysing the spatial behavior of human subjects or groups of people using the Global Positioning System (GPS) and other advanced tracking technologies. During a tracking period, participants carry a small GPS unit. A proprietary time/space analysis engine analyzes data from the GPS and other tracking technologies to derive a map indicating routes taken by each participant and the length of time spent in each location.

• The data can be analyzed in real time to produce an accurate picture of the use of the location for site planning and management.
• System can be used in relatively small and complex areas such as theme parks
• Analysis can be conducted at different aggregation levels: single individual, group of people, each individual in a group, to derive patterns in different people's behaviour.
