Objective/function
-
The laboratory is active in the emerging fields of nanophotonics and optofluidics.
-
The science and technology developed in the nano-opto lab can be utilized in large variety of applications in communication, information, storage, lithography, sensing and illumination.
-
Nanophotonics is explored in both guided wave and free space configurations.
-
Guided wave configuration is used for on-chip integration of variety of functionalities in silicon, metal or polymer material platforms for enhanced functionality and performances over traditional optical component and devices.
-
Integration of nanophotonics with microfluidic technology enables the realization of unique optofluidic components and devices, in a “lab-on-a-chip” platform. The interaction of light with subwavelength structures in free space configuration enables the control of polarization in space variant geometry. The focus of light beyond the diffraction limit tightly controls the PSF in the focal plane and controls micro- and nanoparticles using advanced tweezing mechanisms.
