Objective/function

The laboratory is active in the field of: Effects of dissolved organic matter (including humic substances) on reaction and transport of heavy metals and other pollutants in the environment; effects of organic matter on soil sustainability; natural organic matter and bacteria as biofertilizers; recycling (composting) of agricultural wastes and their application in agriculture; suppressiveness of composts to soil borne diseases - alternative to fungicides and bacteriocides; and positive and adverse effects of irrigation with reclaimed wastewaters on soil properties and health.

Soil analyses using the following instruments: UV-VIS, DRIFT-FTIR and fluorescence spectrophotometers inductively coupled with mass-spectrometer plasma atomic emission spectrophotometer (ICP-AES and ICPMS); CHNSO analyzer; DOC analyzer, anion analyzer; GC/MS, HPLC and LC/MS
